On Wednesday, June 10, I attended the Sydney Film Festival 2010 Industry
Conference Day, where Thomas Mai of Festival Darlings gave a fascinating lecture
on Film Financing & Distribution 2.0. He introduced the audience to a Swedish
website http://googlad.nu/
This website is brand visibility metric website that lets you know how many times
you or your brand or anything else you are interested in has been googled over the
last month. It has been said that if your name is being googled more than 3,000
times per month, you can make a living from it.
Some examples I searched for are,
- new Aussie film, Animal Kingdom: 165,000 times
- Australian Soccer team, Socceroos: 33.100 times
- My fave philosopher, Ghandi: 673,000 times
- The man I learnt about this from, Thomas Mai: 1,600 times
Another clever website that Thomas discussed was
This website actually tracks your brand's visibility by searching for mentions
of your brand name on almost all of the known social media platforms, including
Google, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Bebo, Yahoo!, Digg, Eventful, LinkedIn,
MySpace, Ning, and Reddit, just to name a few!
What's great is that you can actually subscribe to a tracker and have all the infi
about your brand emailed to you. So convenient!
